Within the scope of the CLIMAAX – CliResDairy: Climate Resilience Enhancement in Dairy Farming Project, funded under the European Union Horizon Europe Programme, the CliResDairy: Climate Resilience Enhancement in Dairy Farming Conference was successfully held on 6 May 2026 in Aydın, Türkiye.
The conference brought together representatives from public institutions, academia, agricultural organisations, cooperatives, the private sector and dairy farmers to discuss the impacts of climate change on dairy farming, regional climate risks, adaptation strategies and practical solutions for building a more resilient livestock sector.



Presentation Session
Following the opening programme, project findings and scientific assessments were presented by experts working within the project framework:
- CliResDairy Project Overview – Dr Hediye Cerit, Project Coordinator
- Climate Hazards and Associated Risks – Dr Çağrı Karaman, Ph.D.
- Adaptation Strategies to Climate Risks – Engin Koç
- Satellite Technologies for Disaster and Climate Change Management – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nusret Demir
The presentations shared the results of climate risk assessments conducted within the project and highlighted the expected impacts of increasing heat stress, drought, extreme precipitation and flood events on dairy farming systems in Aydın Province.
Panel Session: From Climate Risks to Resilience – The Future of Dairy Farming
The afternoon panel session was moderated by agricultural journalist and writer Ali Ekber Yıldırım and brought together experts representing academia, producer organisations, agricultural technology, cooperatives and practical farming experience.
The panel featured:
- Prof. Dr İlkay Dellal (Faculty of Agriculture, Ankara University; Member of the Turkish Association of Agricultural Economists) – Climate Change and Sustainability Policies in Livestock Farming
- Prof. Dr Gürsel Dellal (Faculty of Agriculture, Ankara University; Member of the National Dairy Council Climate Change and Sustainability Subcommittee) – Climate Change and the Dairy Sector in Türkiye
- Sumer Tömek Bayındır (Chair of the Agriculture 4.0 Technology and Impact Association; TETA Technical Agriculture) – Clean Milk, Strong Supply Chain: The Economic and Environmental Cost of Poor-Quality Milk
- Nermin Salı Kızılöz (Chair of the Torbalı Agricultural Development Cooperative) – Organised Producers at the Doorstep of the Climate Crisis
- Emre Gürdal (Dairy Farmer and Veterinarian) – Measures Taken Against Climate Change in Dairy Farming
The discussions focused on climate adaptation needs, sustainability challenges, policy instruments and practical measures that can support the long-term resilience of dairy farming systems.
The conference represented a significant milestone of the CliResDairy Project by disseminating project results, encouraging knowledge exchange among stakeholders and promoting evidence-based adaptation planning. Through scientific climate risk analyses and stakeholder engagement activities, the project contributes to the development of practical adaptation measures aimed at strengthening the resilience, sustainability and preparedness of the dairy sector in Aydın Province.
