From Climate Risk to Adaptation Actions: Practical Solutions from Mission Projects
Across Europe, regions and local authorities are increasingly recognising the need to adapt to climate change and strengthen resilience. While significant progress has been made in understanding climate risks and assessing vulnerabilities, many authorities still face challenges in translating this knowledge into practical adaptation actions, investment priorities and financing decisions.
This online event will showcase practical solutions, tools and experiences from Mission on Adaptation projects that have ended or are approaching completion: CLIMAAX, MIRACA, CLIMATEFIT and DestinE. Together, the projects demonstrate how climate risk assessment, adaptation planning and financing can be integrated to support more effective and implementable climate adaptation.
This event is aimed at regional and local authorities, members of the EU Mission Adaptation Community and other stakeholders working on climate adaptation, resilience planning and investment. It is particularly relevant for those assessing climate risks, developing adaptation strategies, prioritising actions and exploring funding opportunities to strengthen climate resilience.
Dana Stuparu (Deltares) will represent CLIMAAX, sharing the project’s experience in understanding climate risks. Below is a description of the other sister projects showcased during the event:
- MIRACA demonstrates how climate risks can be integrated into adaptation planning and decision making, helping authorities prioritise actions and strengthen resilience pathways.
- CLIMATEFIT focuses on the economic and financial dimensions of adaptation, supporting the development of financing strategies and investment-ready adaptation actions.
- DestinE provides advanced climate data and digital tools, including the Urban Heat Pilot Service Toolkit (UHEATS), to support local and regional authorities in assessing urban heat risks and strengthening climate adaptation planning.
