On 22 October 2025, the Regions of Crete and Western Greece convened in Heraklion for a joint technical session dedicated to climate resilience. The meeting focused on aligning regional adaptation strategies and reinforcing inter-regional cooperation.
Teams exchanged key findings from Climate Resilient crETE (supported by CLIMAAX, Horizon Europe) and Path4PDE (Pathways2Resilience), highlighting strong complementarities between the two initiatives. Discussions addressed drought and flood risks, vulnerabilities of critical infrastructure, and cross-sectoral priorities, benchmarked against the Regional Adaptation Plan.

The Technical University of Crete contributed analytical methodologies and interpretation, while regional services outlined coordination pathways for implementation. Next steps include developing a Support Mechanism for Climate Adaptation in Crete, enhancing data sharing, stakeholder engagement, and targeted capacity building.
This collaboration marks a significant step toward coherent, evidence-based adaptation planning across Greek regions, bridging insights into actionable climate resilience measures.
