The 7th Nordic Conference on Climate Change Adaptation (NOCCA2025) was held on 14–15 May 2025 at the Lappia Hall in Rovaniemi, Finland. The conference focused on both the limits and opportunities of climate change adaptation, with particular attention to the unique challenges and opportunities faced by northern regions in a warming climate.
Taina Hanhikoski, from the Finnish Ministry of the Interior, represented the CLIMAAX project during the poster session, where she presented the Finnish pilot. This pilot explored the growing risk of wildfires in the context of climate change and examined the implications for fire and rescue services.
NOCCA2025 brought together a diverse group of speakers representing various sectors and levels of governance. A highlight of the event was the strong presence of young professionals and researchers among the presenters, reflecting a vibrant and inclusive dialogue. Key topics addressed included climate justice, security dimensions, and the importance of multisectoral collaboration in advancing adaptation strategies.
The CLIMAAX poster attracted considerable attention, with many attendees already familiar with the project. The event provided excellent networking opportunities and clearly highlighted the project’s value in supporting practical approaches to risk identification and management.
