Interdisciplinary conference in Murcia (6–9 October 2026) will bring together experts to discuss Mediterranean climate risks, impacts and adaptation strategies.

The 19th Plinius Conference on Mediterranean Risks will take place from 6 to 9 October 2026 at the Campus de la Merced in the city of Murcia.

The conference will provide an interdisciplinary forum for exchanging knowledge on Mediterranean risks in the context of climate change. It will address a wide range of topics, including monitoring, assessment, diagnosis and prediction of extreme weather events, wildfires and hydro-geological hazards, as well as their impacts on natural resources, agriculture, health and society.

Special attention will also be given to adaptation strategies and the preservation of natural and cultural heritage at risk. The event will adopt a multi-sectoral approach, bringing together experts from meteorology, hydrology, geomorphology, engineering, sociology, cultural heritage conservation, and public and private risk management.

By fostering collaboration across disciplines and sectors, the conference will aim to strengthen the scientific and operational understanding of Mediterranean climate risks and support more effective adaptation and resilience strategies.
