SUMMARY:What is resilience in practice: the past and the future
DESCRIPTION:Cristina Coelho, Head of Office for Sustainable Development and Environmental Emergency, Setúbal Municipality, represented CLIMAAX project at the European Urban Resilience Forum ( https://urbanresilienceforum.eu/ ) (EURESFO) held in Cascais, Portugal, from 18 to 20 October 2023. The Forum brought together more than 350 city and regional representatives, researchers, community organizations, European Commission members, and United Nations affiliates from 44 countries, all united by a common purpose: bolstering climate action and resilience in urban areas.\nImage credits: EURESFO 2023\nCristina Coelho was among the speakers of the session “What is resilience in practice: the past and the future ( https://urbanresilienceforum.eu/programme/sessions-2023/what-is-resilience-in-practice/ )“, organised by the sister project REGILIENCE together with other EU-funded projects that support regions in developing climate resilience pathways. The session focused on two main questions: How did European regions approach resilience in the past until today? And how does the future of resilience in regions look like?\n\nParticipants had the opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas on the past and future of resilience with regions and institutions working in the field. The discussion was focused on nine topics ( https://regilience.eu/event/unlocking-urban-resilience-a-recap-of-euresfo23/ ), addressing different sectors and systems based on the regions’ context.\nFollowing the World Café setup, in the first part of the session, participants chose a topic to exchange with regions, institutions and other participants in smaller groups.
