SUMMARY:Community of Practice | Wildfire Risk Assessment: Learning from Regions
DESCRIPTION:Wildfires are becoming an increasingly severe and frequent climate hazard across Europe, impacting ecosystems, settlements, infrastructure, and regional economies. Longer fire seasons, combined with drought, extreme heat, and changing land-use patterns, are creating complex risk landscapes that demand robust and data-driven Climate Risk Assessments (CRAs).\nThis CLIMAAX Community of Practice ( https://www.climaax.eu/community-of-practice/ ) webinar is the second in the new hazard- and workflow-focused series. Participants gained insights into how regional teams had assessed wildfire hazard likelihood, exposure, and vulnerability, and how the resulting analysis was informing local adaptation planning and risk management strategies.\nAndrea Trucchia (CIMA Research Foundation) presented the CLIMAAX Wildfire Workflow, explaining its structure and main applications. The programme then moved on to regional experiences, with João Carvalhinho (Beira Baixa Comunidade Intermunicipal) and João Santos (Greenmetrics.ai) sharing insights from the Beira Baixa case study and describing how the workflow had been applied and adapted within their CRA processes.\nAfterwards, Simone Taddeo (CMCC) presented the ASPECT project‘s governance case study, illustrating the use of seamless climate information in the governance sector and outlining the survey conducted with regional and local administrations. The webinar also provided a space for interaction between regions and Toolbox developers, supporting shared learning and reflection on workflow usability and flexibility.\n\nAGENDA PRESENTATION SLIDES\n
